My experience
Aside from a late-college/post-grad role managing a restaurant (which can teach you a lot), my career began at Dell Computer fielding inbound calls for the home-sales division. Over my nine years at Dell, I held sales and technical roles in both IC and Management capacities, led an analytics team to help the Mid-Market division adapt to an evolving customer set, and led a large sales and supporting tech organization across Round Rock, Nashville, and Oklahoma City.
In the early years of mainstream Saas adoption, I led the sales, onboarding and CS teams at a startup - Volusion, before being recruited to Seattle by Amazon to lead sales and sales ops teams in the Amazon Services division (Marketplace & Seller Tech). I spent six years across a range of efforts in Amazon Services - in Seattle for the first four years before being relocated to Dallas to open a new regional office.
One of our larger customers in the consumables space (Nutrabolt) recruited me to lead their global Direct to Consumer business, after which I joined my former Amazon VP at Uber to lead the North American restaurant growth for Uber Eats (the early days through post-IPO). Most recently, I led the launch and growth of a Blackstone portfolio company Juniper as part of the digital expansion of International Market Centers - the largest physical wholesale marketplace by square footage and wholesalers.
Today, along with short to mid-term consulting, I focus on developing managers through an initiative I cofounded called Manager Material. I believe investing in managers to drive high engagement in teams can have a huge impact - not just on the business outcomes, but in people's lives as we spend so much time in the workplace.
